The Royal Way to use An Android Smart phone or tablet - How and How not to use your Android
I see all this
potential in every Android Phone, inhibited and not made use of. I came to the
point of Dejection combined with liberal anger when I wanted to write a post on
how to use an Android Phone. Let’s start from scratch. Ground Zero.
Use the Live Wallpaper feature if you really want to!
Unless you are in no need of the Live Wallpaper Feature (I
don’t most of the time), it wouldn’t hurt you to use Live Wallpapers in Your Android
Phone/Tablet. High Battery consumption is the primary cause stated for not using
the live Wallpaper feature, hey, but you know what, if you want to use a live
wallpaper, go ahead and use a live wallpaper. Do what you want with your phone.
It’s your phone, you own it, and it does not own you.
Use the Home Button; For Christ’s Sake!
One of the very useful and Mind Freeing Feature (philosophy)
of Android is that it frees the user from exiting every application that is
opened. You don’t have to close anything. The OS cleans up the resources
whenever necessary.
Unless you have some saveable work going on; like editing
an Excel sheet or Playing a Game or Typing a note, there is no need for you to
use the back button at all! Use the back button only when you have to save
changes (So that the application can then be cleared in the background when
necessary; without loss of data).
So the next time you are done watching a video, just hit the
home button. The next time you finish
using the browser, click the home button. Forget about closing and
micromanaging the mega minded operating system. Use the HOME button and let the
Operating system do its JOB! And stop worrying about killing apps. Don’t worry;
I’ll give you a guilt free pass.
Don’t worry about wearing out the power button
Many users constantly worry about wearing out the power
button as it is used for locking and unlocking your phone. I have been using
mine for more than a year now and mine is still as solid as when I bought it.
However if you are a bit pessimistic about this issue, you
can use an app called Lock Screen .Just make a shortcut of
the app on to your shortcut bar or home screen and you can lock your phone by
clicking it. Now, you will have to use the power button only to unlock your
phone. Do it if you really need it to keep you secure.
Hey, Even the Mona Lisa is falling apart – Tyler.
(Also if you want to remove the annoying slide bar that
comes up whenever you unlock the phone; you can use an app called “no lock”
to get rid of that)
That’s it for now. May be I’ll update this as and when I
think of something.
PS: Use Launcher Pro.
The best Launcher ever!
PPS: Read the book;
Less is more – The Art of Voluntary Poverty.
Update:
If you have got to Root your phone, go ahead and Root it. Especially if you have low internal memory issues that keep you thinking. Use Link2SD after rooting and you should be doing just fine.
