Seeds

Image
Yes. Seeds. They are important. Day 1: Imagine Ted. It’s a big beautiful day and he starts sowing apple seeds. He waters. He sets everything straight for the seeds to grow. He sleeps Happy. Day 2: He gets up excited to see how his seeds are doing. It’s another fine day and the seeds are still asleep. Dormant. He waters. Couple years later, he has an apple tree; Giving out fruits and shade. He has thousands of apples now. He can eat all he wants. Let’s rewind. On the second day, how many apples did he get? Zero? I’d say he had 3. He just had to collect it later. The same happens with anything in life. Just like a fixed deposit in a bank compounds, so does your life. The sooner you start the better you get, soon. A day in the present may not mean much in value, and in the future when you collect, you would know exactly what that days’ worth. Let me inject a strong logical dosage here contrasting to the apple example. Suppose, you put up a fixed depo...

FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out while running in The Hedonic Treadmill – Part 2 – The social Life

Image
This is a continuation of my post titled – The Hedonic Treadmill.  Please read the other blog post. There was so much I wanted to say in The Hedonic Treadmill , but then I thought I shall put it in a different post to give things more clarity. The fear of missing out is in all of us. In fact FOMO is good. Without FOMO we would never evolve. We would never learn new things. But like I already stated in my previous blog post, balance is essential. If things could happen progressively governing the balancing rule, everything would happen good in life. Quiet: The power o f int r overts in a world T hat can't stop talking by Susan Cain , was the book which gave me huge insights about introverts and the power of just sitting in silence without talking too much. When I took this book in my hands, I was skeptical that this book is going to speak on and on about how introverts are the greatest people, in a biased context. I soon found out that the wri...

Response ability - On being a Man - A father's day tribute

One of the duties that every man has to go through in his life is Responsibility; Being responsible for his own shit, for his girl friend, for his kids, for his family, and for his own god damned life. He got to be strong for a lot of people. It is very important for me to say that some English words have gotten skewed and twisted and sometimes they begin to mean something different from what they were originally intended to do. Responsibility which once meant "response ability", the ability to handle shit and take care of it no matter whatever be it, with courage; has changed to "responsibility" as in when it can be used as a excuse to blame a person (A) and relieve another person (B) of(f) all the dirt. A boy while growing learns "response ability" from the men around him. This can be his uncle or Father or any strong male role model, and sometimes for the lack of men, a woman. The young age is where a solid foundation can be put for him f...

Blistering barnacles, thundering typhoons and half assed behaviour

There is only one road block in life - HALF-ASSED BEHAVIOUR. That's it. Let me tell you two stories:  Story #1  A scorpion comes to the edge of a river and is unable to cross it. It finds a frog swimming in the pond, and asks the frog to drop him on the other side of the river. The frog, with clarity, tells the scorpion, "Hey, you'll sting me and I'll die. I won't take you on my back" The scorpion replies," Hey, if I sting you put there in the middle of the river, while you are crossing, both of us get to drown and die. I swear I won't do it." The frog appreciates the logic of the scorpion and allows it to climb on his shoulder. The frog swims to around half way across the river and *sting*, the scorpion stings the frog. The frog in tears, says to the scorpion, "Why in the world did you sting me? Look, now both of us are going to die" The scorpion replies, "Iam a scorpion. I sting". Und...

FLASH NEWS : UFO sigthing with a message from the Extra terrestrials!!! A 23 years old Ranjith Gomez   living in Chennai, had an astonishing experience this morning. In his usual morning chores, while practicing Nunchaku in his house terrace   noticed a sudden change in the sky.   All of the sudden, the sky turned deep red and the wind took up its speed. That was when an UFO emerged! To his surprise, there was a intense bright glow from it which   flashed an image of an unknown creature(which was later reported to be the Extraterrestrials!) and it left a message in a cryptographic code on the sky. Ranjith with his fast impulse took a snap of this incidence and reported to the locals. This kind of incidence has taken place around many parts of the world leaving the same trails, an image of an unknown creature and a cryptographic code. Scientist find this really exciting as they finally found a proof for the existence of extra terrestrial life and our race ...

A tribute to Nokia and their Smart Phones - A Facebook rant

This is about Nokia. They deserve one. I have been convincing myself to not do this act for a long time now and I lost to myself today. No matter how silly and weird this may sound, what's got to be done, got to be done. I am angry. Bear with me. People around me who buy new phones these days couldn’t stop themselves from commenting on my Nokia 5800 even if I keep my mouth darn shut. I would do some base arguing but would brush aside the topic at the next possible turn. Today a friend of mine who bought a new Phone boasted of a feature with the remark that it would take Nokia several generations to incorporate. The feature was the ability to type faster with a software called Swype which integrated with the Qwerty onscreen Keyboard. (It's a nice application; check it out) His statement was so loaded with Language that I had to pause and reflect within myself for a while to react to it. I couldn’t let it go this time. And that how this rant originated. Let me...

The Hunt

I wrote this Short story about the concept of Future food for a competition from ThinkBig. Well, the result?? I messed up and I messed bad; and that’s why this story is in my blog now. This is a story of a man; a man who wanted to live at peace within him; a man who did not want the world in which it is now; and there is nothing he can do about it. March 3, 2045 Dawn I am hit very badly and Losing Consciousness. My head makes a 360 degree turn as my feet gives up; I start to fall. When I was young, I always relished nature. Note that I say the previous sentence in sarcastic Past tense. It’s not that I don't admire nature anymore, it’s just that I don't know what made me hate nature so much these days. May be I still love nature; Hate and Love have always been the two sides of the same coin. I find no difference between them. Too much love becomes hate. Too much help turns into a nuisance. Too much Admiration turns to Nausea. I remember a song from .38...

Internal Male anger

Have you seen the Movie Predator? The guys in the movie have this Calm demeanour as if they could explode in rage any second. Look at the conversations they have between them and I wonder why men these days don’t communicate like that. It’s a long lost art. It this, internal Male anger that kept them running like a powerful machine; in mind and body. Moving forward on my research I Google the term “Internal Male Anger”; only to find that it’s flooded with advice on how to control your anger; on how bad anger is; how it should be crushed to the depth until there is a huge bright light ray of love flowing from you all the goddamn time. Pages and pages of psychobabble shit to control once what were essential drive in every man. To hell suck with life. Am not sayin all anger is good. You get my point. Good boy. What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for a worthwhile goal, a freely chosen task. —VIKTOR E. FRANKL, Holocaus...

Thoughts that come as you take a Walk: Travelling Old Style

I Admit. I love to walk.  I get to notice all kinds of people and places when I walk than through bike riding. Intricate places, nooks and corners, sweet smells, nasty smells, loving couples, sighting guys, barking dogs, dogs wagging tails, following dogs, dead ends, good roads, bad roads, worst roads, churches, temples, Buses, Places, Hospitals, Parks. But that’s not why I walk.  It all started on a day; A day in which I was frustrated. I don’t remember the strangeness of thought I had at that time. All that echoes back in my mind now was that, I was having my lunch alone in a hotel and I was angry about something.  I had to go to a place which I did not like much. There was time, a little bit of time remaining and I took a purposefully longer path to reach what could have been reached at a small fraction of the time I actually took. I walked my first kilometre in autopilot; I did not recognise anything other than the thoughts of my pensive mind at...

Why people are such a pain in the ass - OMG! A bright white ray of love

Image
Happy New Year guys! I know you have been having fun.  This New Year was a usual for me. I got to visit grammas, Gramps, Kids, distant relatives and wish them and get blessings. Not that I actually care about that but I got to do what I got to do. One thing I usually notice during these visits is that one person say, my grandma would be more affectionate towards one of the grandchildren. People have their favourites in relatives. In fact we all have our favourites; something which someone new to your life might not understand. I love the hotel scene in the Tamil movie " Mounam Pesiyathe ". It's pretty cool how the actors portray these deep emotions out of the blue.   For the people who don’t understand Tamil, the scene goes like this.  A guy invites his friend to a birthday treat of his girlfriend. Now, his friend doesn’t like love and when he sees his girlfriend, creates a scene and leaves. Now the girlfriend says to him "I told you not to invite h...
