SHORT BUT SWEET – WHY WE NEED TO SHUT UP AND SPEAK MORE

When Victor Hugo’s  Les Misérables  was being published in Paris during 1862, he was out on a vacation. Curious to know how the sales of his book, he sent a brief telegram to his publisher. Quote ? Unquote And the publisher responded equally brief, indicating that the sales is good. Quote ! Unquote The entire lot printed for Paris had sold out. Ah, that reminds me of the movie Predator. The way by which these guys communicate while on mission has sunk deeply into my brain. I thought, maybe that’s how guys behave when they have a strong affinity towards accomplishing a goal. They do shit and talk very less. They communicate what is important and they make sure that the other person understands what is said. The absence of clarity in communication has wreaked havoc in our society resulting in countless fights amongst couples, disorganized organisations and an alarming increase in the rise of unnecessary guidance counsellors and an extrem...

Fx File Explorer – The best Android File Manager Yet – Browse like Windows and Linux

I never thought I would be writing a review for an application in android. But this one was so beautiful and elegant, that I felt compelled to write one. I have always craved for a file manager in Android that lets me treat my mobile device, not so mobile. The mobile methodology of file browsing through trees or lists was not effective in managing files effectively. I found it cumbersome to use and tried my best to avoid file browsing in the phone. Why can’t Android have a traditional file manager like Windows Explorer, or like Linux file managers (Thunar, Nautilus, Nemo etc.), which would make file browsing a lot easier on a mobile device? And thus came FX file explorer, on a search in Google Play. Boy was I happy. Traditional window management, zoom in and zoom out of icons to make them bigger or smaller, built in text editor, bookmarks at the top, search bar for instant file search, script runner and root file browser, were all the things that made this ...

Know thyself – Prove to thyself

If is often advised to shout “fire”, in case of trouble than to shout, “help”. Why? Cause People are narcissists. We are all selfish jerks to some degree. Fire would make more people come to help you than the word, “help”. People help themselves. Wait a minute, I forgot something. Let's rewind... Movie characters! I honestly say that I envy them. They have their own background music, special effects, songs which are carefully written to suit the moment they portray in the movies. No wonder they are called celebrities. These movie characters come in various sizes, shapes and sexual orientations, but I have always been curious of the silent ones; (you'll know if you've read my previous posts) Stallone in Rambo, Statham in Transporter, Craig in Casino Royale, Diesel in fast and furious. What makes them so sure of themselves? What gives them the confidence at such effortless ease? What makes what they are? I see them walking and t...

Thedi Choru - A Translation and a Happy New Year

A very Happy New Year! I thought I'd do a translation of one of my favourite piece of poetry from Mahakavi Bharathiar. If you don’t know about him, there's Wikipedia. This guy has been demonstrating to me greatly, in how the vocabulary you think can greatly impact the way by which you act; in how the vocabulary in which you think, forges new strong behaviour into you. That's the ultimate power of language. Now that many of you will be having hopes, dreams and significant resolutions for the New Year, a more perfect stage can never be asked for.

The process and cycle of Change in the world and how to change for good!

I was thinking about how buildings were imploded. It's a process in which buildings are brought to the ground with explosives. They charge the building with ammo after identifying all the correct spots and on one fine day they blow the trigger. The entire building comes down. Just like that. A second ago there was a building, and a second later there it is no more. It occurred to me that change never happens gradually, it only happens instantaneously, contrary to popular belief. You might argue that they have been charging and inspecting the building for an entire week before it was blown, and that should be counted too. But I'll argue back with the possibility that that was only the process of change and not change itself. After a week, if they didn’t blow the trigger, the building would still be there, intact. Consider the orbitals in an atom. The electron jumps from one orbital state to another. But how does the electron jump from one orbital to another?...

FLASH NEWS : UFO sigthing with a message from the Extra terrestrials!!! A 23 years old Ranjith Gomez   living in Chennai, had an astonishing experience this morning. In his usual morning chores, while practicing Nunchaku in his house terrace   noticed a sudden change in the sky.   All of the sudden, the sky turned deep red and the wind took up its speed. That was when an UFO emerged! To his surprise, there was a intense bright glow from it which   flashed an image of an unknown creature(which was later reported to be the Extraterrestrials!) and it left a message in a cryptographic code on the sky. Ranjith with his fast impulse took a snap of this incidence and reported to the locals. This kind of incidence has taken place around many parts of the world leaving the same trails, an image of an unknown creature and a cryptographic code. Scientist find this really exciting as they finally found a proof for the existence of extra terrestrial life and our race ...

Movies that Ground you to Reality – Watch these whenever you are in Confusion.

Fight Club Should I say anything more about this Movie? The Terminal I have never seen a Human being act so original and fresh with raw emotion like Tom Hank’s Character ( Viktor Navorski ) in the movie. Stranded on an airport with unfriendly people around; his country no longer existing; he works the environment with his human nature and skills and becomes the hero of the Airport from almost nothing. His child like Character and the Deep Integrity makes this movie a feel good Watch. I watch this movie when I feel out of Sync with myself. Office Space A series of Events on the life of a dull, bored to death employee; which takes a twist as he visits a hypnotherapist and sees him die! By the Way Jennifer Aniston looks really amazing in this Movie. I can sit all day long and adore her acting.   “It's not just about me and my dream of doing nothing. It's about all of us. I don't know what happened to me at that hypnotherapist and, I don't k...

How to act busy at work (office) when you really aren’t doing anything at all!

Let’s get straight to the point. Follow them precisely and you will be on the go. May be you’ll get the best employee of the year award. Follow these steps in the order it is mentioned here for best results. Walk around with a pissed off face The first thing is to master the poker pissed off serious face. No signs of happiness should be coming out of your expression. You can smile internally if you want to. This makes people think that you are actually serious about your work.People will be afraid to come near you. You will be the, “do not disturb because he is working really hard” office guy. Walk really fast Now that you have mastered the pissed off face; it’s time to walk fast. It makes you appear really wanted even though you are useless as shit. It makes people feel that you are part of something really really important. No seriously walk fast. Run sometimes as if you are going toattack someone. People respect you for that. Talk on the phone...

The Hunt

I wrote this Short story about the concept of Future food for a competition from ThinkBig. Well, the result?? I messed up and I messed bad; and that’s why this story is in my blog now. This is a story of a man; a man who wanted to live at peace within him; a man who did not want the world in which it is now; and there is nothing he can do about it. March 3, 2045 Dawn I am hit very badly and Losing Consciousness. My head makes a 360 degree turn as my feet gives up; I start to fall. When I was young, I always relished nature. Note that I say the previous sentence in sarcastic Past tense. It’s not that I don't admire nature anymore, it’s just that I don't know what made me hate nature so much these days. May be I still love nature; Hate and Love have always been the two sides of the same coin. I find no difference between them. Too much love becomes hate. Too much help turns into a nuisance. Too much Admiration turns to Nausea. I remember a song from .38...

Internal Male anger

Have you seen the Movie Predator? The guys in the movie have this Calm demeanour as if they could explode in rage any second. Look at the conversations they have between them and I wonder why men these days don’t communicate like that. It’s a long lost art. It this, internal Male anger that kept them running like a powerful machine; in mind and body. Moving forward on my research I Google the term “Internal Male Anger”; only to find that it’s flooded with advice on how to control your anger; on how bad anger is; how it should be crushed to the depth until there is a huge bright light ray of love flowing from you all the goddamn time. Pages and pages of psychobabble shit to control once what were essential drive in every man. To hell suck with life. Am not sayin all anger is good. You get my point. Good boy. What man actually needs is not a tensionless state but rather the striving and struggling for a worthwhile goal, a freely chosen task. —VIKTOR E. FRANKL, Holocaus...

The Courage of Nature

Image
There was a Drumstick Tree at an edge in my Home. It was growing in a direction towards which it would get more Sunlight (east). If it grew that way, it would put more leaves on the neighbour’s plot which would make it difficult for them to clean it up. At home, we decided for the tree that it shouldn’t grow that way. We cut the branches that would grow towards the Sunlight; and the Tree would Start and grow the same way again. Talk of Obnoxious perseverance. I remember when I was asked to maintain Pin drop Silence and not move from my place by the Almighty Class Leader when I was in Grade 2 until the Teacher Arrived. The Strict Class leader would write down names and show it to the Teacher who might punish Children for being so alive. I would sit like a statue in class but move my toes and fingers and Smile within myself about the fact that they couldn’t Control everything in me. That kind of felt good.  “Everything can be taken from a man but one th...

Thoughts that come as you take a Walk: Travelling Old Style

I Admit. I love to walk.  I get to notice all kinds of people and places when I walk than through bike riding. Intricate places, nooks and corners, sweet smells, nasty smells, loving couples, sighting guys, barking dogs, dogs wagging tails, following dogs, dead ends, good roads, bad roads, worst roads, churches, temples, Buses, Places, Hospitals, Parks. But that’s not why I walk.  It all started on a day; A day in which I was frustrated. I don’t remember the strangeness of thought I had at that time. All that echoes back in my mind now was that, I was having my lunch alone in a hotel and I was angry about something.  I had to go to a place which I did not like much. There was time, a little bit of time remaining and I took a purposefully longer path to reach what could have been reached at a small fraction of the time I actually took. I walked my first kilometre in autopilot; I did not recognise anything other than the thoughts of my pensive mind at...

Comfortably Numb

Have you ever burnt a book? It’s very painful. (To the book that is) Books don’t burn easily. When ignited, they catch fire but after some time, the flame puffs out. For effectively burning the book, it must be tortured, ripped apart page by page. I  don't  want to get into the Gory Details. People all around me are talented. They play good music, are excellent intellectuals, and efficient stock pickers. The last time, I listened to Fur Elise by Beethoven, I was mesmerised by the way seven different piece of Frequencies along with their half notes, could produce such a sweet sounding music with varying pitch combinations. I tried and tried and miserably failed to estimate the probability of Beethoven having come up with that piece of music, playing different notes at random. They call it destiny, you meeting your Girlfriend. The past always looks like destiny doesn’t it? A million pens made in a factory and the one pen that you buy was also meant ...
